Improved durability and visibility through years of functional improvements
These new signs and facilities have been developed using NOK's rubber compounding and processing technologies to facilitate smooth traffic flow and ensure safety in the ever-deteriorating traffic conditions. The main material used is highly reliable Polyurethane elastomer products which provides high functionality, durability, and safety that cannot be achieved with conventional rubber, plastic, or light metal. Rubber pole makes the most of the high elasticity of the material, allowing it to return to its original shape even if it is accidentally run over by a wheel and bent.
1. Head cap
Conventionally, the head was foamed, but by making it a cap (solid), the durability of the head has been improved by about 7 times.
2. Adhesion between colored urethane and transparent urethane layer
By strengthening the adhesion between the two layers, the durability of the main body has been improved by approximately 10 times.
3. Increasing the brightness of reflective sheets
By adopting a high-brightness prism-type reflective sheet, we have improved brightness by approximately two times compared to our previous models.
By adopting a high-brightness prism-type reflective sheet, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 40%. The measurement results are evaluation results under our specified conditions, and do not guarantee improved durability when installed in the market. The Rubber pole body is bent 90 degrees at a frequency of 15 times per minute, and maintains its resilience even after 300,000 bends.
Load testing
Rubber pole maintains its resilience even when stepped on 10,000 times with a load of 10kN.
Vehicle collision test using a 2-ton passenger car
A 2-ton vehicle was used to collide with Rubber pole at a speed of 40 km/h, and even after passing the tires over Rubber pole five times and suddenly braking five times, no damage occurred and the vehicle maintained its resilience.
Vehicle collision test using a 20t truck
Even when a 20-ton truck runs over Rubber pole three times at a speed of 80 km/h, it does not sustain any damage and maintains its resilience.

This environmentally friendly Rubber pole uses 39% plant-derived polymer in the main pipe. While it has the same properties as the polyurethane elastomer used in conventional products, it reduces CO2 emissions in the manufacturing process of the raw material (polymer) by approximately 40% (based on NOK's unique calculation method), contributing to the realization of carbon neutrality. As with conventional products, it can be installed in either a fixed or detachable (3-legged) style, reducing the environmental impact while maintaining the role of Rubber pole in facilitating traffic flow and safety.
